How it started.
In some days I am going to fly to Barcelona and live there for 5months. Well I will not just chill there, I will do my internship there in a Language school. But how did this come up? When I was searching for apprenticeships in the administration field in Germany two years ago, I saw that the Humboldt University of Berlin is offering that opportunity combined with an internship during the apprenticeship for 6 months. When I saw that, I knew this is my place and I really want to do this. Since the beginning of my apprenticeship, I am looking forward to this experience. We were able to choose a country in EU and find a place for our internship ourselves. First, I wanted to go to Ireland, but I was afraid, that the weather could drag me down, because I really love the summer and sun. My second idea was actually Barcelona, because I already was there on vacation two years ago and the culture, the people and the atmosphere was amazing. So, I started to apply at universities hostels and different Languages school in Barcelona. After around one month applying I had a Zoom with Olé Languages and since this call I knew I want to work there. One week later (around November ´21) I got the acceptance. I still can remember how freaking happy I was at that moment…In December ´21 my school prepared all the documents, because we were supposed to start our internships in February. Unfortunately, in January we got the messages, that it is not possible to start with the internship as long as our country is a high-risk area. At this time, I was really sad, but kept hoping that we will be able to start soon. The only problem was that I could not book any accommodation or flights. I waited and waited and finally on the 20th of February we got the message, that Spain isn´t a high-risk area anymore. I decided to start in 2 weeks and started searching for a room in a shared flat and flights. After one week I found a perfect flat with 6 other Erasmus students and booked the flight. Now one week was left until my departure and I was so excited.
